A friend and I took a day off yesterday, got up early, and went for a road trip. We headed south and then west and then over the mountain to the Green Valley Book Sale in Mt. Crawford, Virginia (south of Harrisonburg). The warehouse is in the middle of the country and was loaded with hundreds and hundreds of books. I managed to find a few titles that interested me and a few for some family members. I wanted to attend this book sale for years, but due to the long drive (about 3 hours) and lack of interest from any family members, I never managed to fit it in my schedule.
To make the trip more attractive, we also visited Patchwork Plus, a quilt shop in Dayton, Virginia. I found some new patterns for a wallet and overnight bag along with a couple yards of fabric. My friend found a lovely kit for a very sweet quilt.
From there, we headed north to the Route 11 Potato Chip Factory in Mt Jackson, Va. That warehouse was also located in the middle of the country. Unfortunately, they were not making chips yesterday, but they had plenty of bags for sale in their shop. I was impressed with the new building as they used to occupy a very small building south of Harrisonburg that would make one think twice before eating their chips. The new building is three times the size, sparkling clean, and free of any clutter. After making our purchases we headed home.
It was an interesting day and it was topped with a Little League very close ball game with our team coming out with the winning run in the last inning. Life is good!
