I've begun sewing the first of the three tie quilts that I agreed to make for Doris. Seems Doris and her beloved Gerry were great fans of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Doris asked that I include some of the tie labels of those ties that were purchased on their visits there. This is the progress I've made so far. I hope this isn't too 'artsy' for Doris. I'll probably add the tie labels in the border a little later in this project.

Hi, I'm over here from the liberated quilter's group. You've got a great blog, and those ties look wonderful. I especially like the book one. I have a few bags of ties I got from a thrift store, so I'm keeping my eye open for ideas. There is a book called Daddy's Ties I got from the library, but it is always good to get new ideas.
Thanks for the nice comments, Shasta. I have a few more ideas for the remainder of the ties. I just have to get them off the sketch pad and onto the sewing machine. The ties are now all pulled apart. Now I have get some more fusible stabilizer so I can begin cutting the rest. Let me know what you decide to do with YOUR ties.
