ONE MORE SNOW STORY

Okay, so I have one more snow story. I promise this will be the last. Yesterday school was cancelled for the 6th time in as many days. I was home with my husband and grandson. The snow plow has still yet to make a visit to our street. My husband came in from being outside and said he had just done a stupid thing. He said he wanted to clear the road gutter of snow so that the snowmelt would have a clear path to the sewer. He said he was standing in the street shoveling when he suddenly found himself shovel-less. He said in no time after he scooped the snow against the curb that the shovel left his hand and before he knew it, it was in the sewer! Gone, just like that--before he could realize what was happening and with no time to think to NOT let go of the handle! Then he wanted ME to go to the hardware store to see about replacing it. I told him no one would believe that my HUSBAND let the shovel slide down the street sewer. I suggested he be the one to go and maybe someone would take pity on him when he told him his WIFE performed such a clumsy act. Ended up that we BOTH went to hardware store and to Home Depot, too---no shovels to be had anywhere. We thought about it when we got home and maybe, just maybe, we could ease the heavy iron manhole cover off the sewer and retrieve that shovel. You have to realize this was our GOOD shovel—the one that gets up the ice—so we had hope we could still retrieve it. We thought it best to wait until our son got home from work to see if he could get it out. We did and he did. That’s it, I promise, no more talk about the snow……for now.
