The Big Reveal

Today was the day that my guild set as the deadline for completing the annual challenge. We were to make a wall size quilt not to exceed 36" square with the theme "Come Fly With Me". Oh my, the guild members exceeded all expectations. I'm sure there will be a blog post depicting pictures of all of the results soon, see http://mvquilters.blogspot.com/ in the coming week to view them. In the meantime, I made two entries. The first was made with hand=dyed fabric and a fabric bird panel that I picked up off a "free" table at one of our guild meetings a few years ago. I added some bling in the tail feathers and call it simply "Come Fly With Me".

The second one I made I wanted to use some recycled and new zippers. I painted the background one rainy day last fall in Linda C's garage. It looked like an aerial view of the California Baja Peninsula. I just finished that bead class so I enhanced the bird wings with the beads and scattered some sparkly ones over the ocean water. I call this "Are We There Yet?"

I'm having a heck of a time loading these pics so I'll try again tomorrow.
