Making Progress

My Monday morning Play Group decided to issue a monthly challenge to those who want to participate. I missed the meeting where it was announced, but I'm told that everyone who was there selected a word, wrote it on a piece of paper, put it in a bag and one word was drawn from the bag. If we choose to participate we are to take that word and produce a 12" square art quilt depicting that word. We have until the 2nd meeting of April to produce that art quilt. So here is my "Sailing" submission.

We aren't required to produce a finished product, but I find if I don't finish something I start these days, it will never get done. I used Dena Crain's 'darned quilt' method to sew this.

In the meantime, I continued work on The Fall Leaf art quilt (see March, 2015, post). Although it is someone else's design, I'm having fun utilizing her instructions. Here is the piece after I finished quilting and adding the binding. The next step is to add foil and beads. . . . something I wouldn't have thought to add.

I'll add another picture after those embellishments have been added. I finally get to use foil on a quilt. I learned that technique years ago and so I'm anxious to apply those skills on this little quilt.
