Block Party Time

We did something yesterday we haven't done in a long time. We had an old-fashioned block party. Our neighbor got permission to close the street and we set up tables and chairs and grill in the middle of the block. Neighbors, young and old, came out to play. The beach umbrellas, originally brought to protect us from some the sun rays, were used to keep the raindrops off of us as rain shower came and went inside of 15 minutes.

The rain didn't diminish the spirit of anyone and the party and games went on as planned. The kids participated in games and contests and water balloon battles and were mindful of the adults who didn't want to get wet. Music blasted out of boom box as 'dancing in the street' took place. Later, a limbo line formed and the kids, and a few adults, contorted their bodies to make it under the stick as it got lower and lower.

Thanks to the efforts of Connie and Dana, the party was such a success that all who attended planned to continue the tradition next year.

And, thank you to Kelly, for taking the pictures.
