February Art Quilt in Process

Since attending Linda Cooper's class on Saturday, I've been working on the project I started there. It will be my art quilt of the month. Here are a couple of pictures to give you an idea of what I'm making. The entire piece will be pictured when I finish it. I just wanted to show progress here. I'm having a good time making this one. The background is handpainted by Mickey Lawler of "Skydyes".

I'm also taking a Quilt University class with Lyric Kinard. Whew! There is a lot of homework with this 4-week class. It is interesting and I think it is already having an impact on my quilt designs. Time will tell. I just need to remember some basic art principals and I'll be fine. I really prefer to work with no plan in mind and keep adding things until I think there is enough. Hopefully, my quilts will get better as I learn the design principals and then apply them.
