I finally finished this piece. Actually, I had forgotten about it. I've been busy making Christmas gifts and lost sight of this piece waiting to be finished. I had a discussion with my youngest sister, Clare, earlier this year and she referred me to a book she had discovered by Ernst Haeckel. I love the creatures in his books and so I created a personal challenge to depict undersea creatures using techniques I learned this year. If you look carefully, you can see how Susan Brubaker Knapp (use of Tyvek), Susan Brittingham (fusing), Cindy Needham (threadplay), and Michele Scott (beading) influenced the methods used when I created this piece. It is done and hanging on my living room wall!
