My sisters had birthdays two days apart last week. One traveled from out of town to spend their special days together. When I asked them if they wanted to go to an Amish Auction with me I was quite surprised they said "yes". One sister is not a quilter and the other one is working on her first quilt and she is making it all by hand!
We arrived at the auction and looked over the items that were going to be auctioned. There were quilts of all sizes, handcrafted furniture, bird feeders, American Girl doll furniture, just to name a few. They were selling homemade chicken noodle soup, hamburgers, hot dogs, and a number delectable baked goods. They each came away winners on a few items. I was the winner of a hand-woven rug. I asked them a number of times if they were ready to leave, they looked at me like I was nuts. They both got wrapped up in the goings on of the auction and so we stayed until the very end. We had a great time and they said they would do it again! Hmmmm... wonder what they'll be doing on their birthdays next year?
