Since my last post things have been breaking all around me. The top tier of lights on the Christmas failed to function. After two hours after searching for the errant light bulb, I added a string of lights to make it look right. I then went shopping for a new tree to put in storage until next year. Visits to three Michael's store yielded no replacement tree :--( However, a visit to Home Depot was successful. I thought I'd better check to be sure the lights were working before storing it. And don't you, know the top tier failed to light. The directions said that when it fails to light, check the bulbs to be sure each one is secure in the their socket. (Isn't that what I did with my 10 year-old tree??). Should one have to do that with a brand new tree??? So back in the box it went and back to the store. I'll be looking for a replacement but not this year. The funny thing is that I have friends on Facebook that describe the same thing happening to them!!
THEN, my husband's favorite Lazy Boy had a seat spring break. No, it isn't one that is easily replaced. Guess what we'll be shopping for after the New Year!
Now to the THIRD thing that went kaput....the oldest laptop bit the dust. This is the one the boys use to store pictures and do homework. You would think with all the electronic gadgets we have in this house that we could easily get by with one less computer. Because it is the laptop that my son uses to check his son's grades at school and communicate with his teachers, made it necessary to get a replacement. Where does one start to look for a new computer. . .Windows 7 (if one can still find one) or Windows 8 operating system, high def graphics, high speed processor, Word Software, etc, etc, etc..... The other computers in our house are operating with Windows 7. It would be nice to have them all operating on the same platform, using the same software applications......makes it much easier to troubleshoot if there is a problem. I managed to find a Dell laptop with everything on it that we needed and also had Windows 7. One of us already uses a Dell product. This was a no-brainer purchase. But I did my homework before doing any shopping and "That Was Easy"!
Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing else in this house breaks before the New Year.
Oh, yes, I've kept my sanity by knitting some more socks. I finished another pair and have three more socks on the needles calling me to come finish them. So I'll end it hear.
