"My Sister's Art and Old Lace"
I can finally reveal my submission to the Arts and Old Lace Challenge that Judy Gula and Cyndi Sauder designed.
We were given men's shirt and suit fabric samples, various pieces of lace and buttons. We were to use these materials to make an 18" X 18" art quilt. Saturday, there was an artist reception during which the unveiling of all of the quilts occurred. I understand these quilts will be on display at Artistic Artifacts in Alexandria, Virginia, until the end of September 2012. So if you're in the area, please stop by. Call first as the hours vary depending on the day of the week. http://artisticartifacts.com/contact.htm
Some of you may know that my youngest sister is an artist. When I needed something more to put on my quilt, her paintings were just perfect. The problem was deciding which one(s) to include. I used photos of her paintings and printed them on silk fabric, framed them, and hung them on the parlor wall. I'm so glad to have this collaboration with her work. Never in a million years did I think that would ever happen!
