Okay, I admit defeat. I tried to cut those 2" squares from my stash and successfully worked through about half of my batiks and then gave up! Yup! I just couldn't do it. It is a nice idea if you don't have as much fabric as I have. BUT it did help me assess that I have way too much fabric and I should go on a fabric buying diet. Yup, I think that is what I MUST do.
The nice thing about having all of this fabric is that it allows me to dig right into a new project WITHOUT having to go shopping for fabric. This is nice especially when those creative moods hit. BUT enough is enough!
In the meantime, I have been working on my horseshoe crab piece. IT is coming along and I am quite pleased with the intermediate results. The teacher suggests you leave your work on one's design wall for a week or two to be sure there aren't anymore changes one wants to make. Has she seen my sewing space??? I just don't have that kind of room if I want to work on something else while the crab waits adjustments. But I DO understand the purpose of letting it percolate a short time. I guess this is what separates Art Quilters from other quilters (who just want to get it done quickly and not having to think so much). I have a long way to go before I can consider myself an artist, but I'm enjoying the journey.
