I attended a Sewing Expo last week and I came home with some more lovely paints and silk screens and stencils and thread and....more ideas on making art quilts. Now I just need to find some time to spend in the studio. The on-line class is keeping me busy with sketching and photographing and writing descriptions and asking questions, etc. Here are a few more pics:
I did take time out and went to Web Fabrics on Tuesday. That has got to be my favorite quilt shop ( webfabrics.net ). Carly was there and she and her staff were very busy getting ready for Houston. I found a panel that will be perfect for fracturing (the technique I re-acquainted with at the Expo last week)along with some batiks that I'll use in my 'wheel' series.
I spent yesterday squaring up, cutting and sewing the fabric for the fractured project. I needed to step away from class sketchings and produce something. I haven't sat at my sewing machine for almost a month :-(
Pictures will be coming soon.
Almost forgot to mention that my "Tiger Eyes" challenge quilt is pictured on Lyric Kinard's blog ( http://lyrickinard.blogspot.com/2011/09/student-spotlight-playing-with-paint.html ), along with other student pieces. I'll be unveiling it at the guild meeting on Tuesday, but you can go to Lyric's website to get a sneak peek.
Press releases have come out regarding the "Power Suit" Challenge that I participated in over the summer. Sorry, no pictures until after the Artist's reception on October 22. You can find information about the "Power Suit Challenge" here: http://www.powersuitquilts.com/
