That Was Close....

I learned about this little guy last week. His human mom was looking for a home for him. I've been thinking about getting a companion for our 9 1/2 year old mixed dog for a couple of months. Our dog wasn't too interested in sharing his human time with another four footed friend. Especially one that was about one fifth his size. He didn't quite know what to make of the puppy, but played tug of war with him for a few minutes. When the puppy whined, he ran to him to see what was up. They would probably get along okay as long as a human was around.

We had a couple of play dates this week. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate the visits.....three and four hours at a time. I really wished I was a little younger, and could see wanting to take care of a dog for the next 15-20 years. But as I get older, I seek a little more freedom with my time and don't like to be housebound to take care of a dog. There is too much to see out in the world and places I want to visit that having the responsibility of dog ownership just wasn't going to allow for that to happen. So we all said good-bye to "Shaq" today and hope that his human can find another home with younger parents to give him to.

He certainly stole my heart for the short time that he visited. Wish I was 30 years younger!
