Introducing "Ellie"

This is one of the quickest machine applique projects I have completed. It is somebody else's pattern, but I just fell in love with her when I saw it. The pattern is by Barbara Jones. She makes a collection of patchwork animals that are the cutest patterns I've seen.  ( bjdesignsandpatterns.com ). I made this from my stash, including cottons, hand-dyed, hand-painted, and batik fabrics.

I still have to quilt that huge "Grand Illusions" quilt and a host of others, but I've found that if I don't stop and doing something fun like this, I won't go back to the other ufos. And if Craftsy doesn't stop advertising 'specials', I'll never spend another moment at the cutting board or sewing machine. The latest class shows one how to knit a cowl, hat, and mitts. I've done these before but without the benefit of a taped class that I can go back and refer to. Those who sew AND knit, or any other skill of self expression, often find themselves with more supplies than they'll ever use. So I dug into my stash of yarns and found a hand-dyed wool that I purchased to make socks and found that it was perfect for the cowl project. Woot, woot! Another skein of yarn will be used up. It's been a productive month, but not so productive in keeping this blog updated.
