New Year, New Skills, New Rewards

The new year usually begins with a resolution to make changes. Unfortunately, I feel I'm still back in November of last year, just getting ready for the holidays. I don't know what it is, but since I've learned how to knit socks, that is all I want to do. I thought taking the first class (Yarn Barn ) on how to use circular needles would be all that was necessary to learn enough skills to make a sock. While it was a good class, I thirsted for more instruction. I found another class (Fibre Space) on how to make socks from the toe up and took it. Not as impressed with that one as I was the first one, but muddled through and finished a pair of very thick, tight wool socks.

Then over the holiday, I received a notice of half-price on-line classes (Craftsy) on how to make socks from the toe up. So I signed up. I really, really, reallly like this class. It will last forever on my computer/Ipad and I can go to it any time of the day or day of the week. It has allowed me to work at my own pace. So much information on the those videos.  So I am working on yet another pair of socks using circular needles and attempting to knit two at a time--anything to make this process go faster.

So instead of shopping for new fabrics, I have been shopping for (and buying) knitting needles, cases, storage containers, yarns, etc. Instead of sewing new quilts, I have been knitting new socks. And like my quilts, my completed socks are not all masterpieces. It takes alot of trial and error to get good at anything. But I'm willing to put in the time to make that happen.

I believe if one introduces new things into one's life, takes risks, learns something new, or introduces new challenges, one will see many opportunities that will make ones's life better.
