Old is new again

Those who know me, know I like to go to Estate Sales. On a recent trip, I found two unfinished pillow tops. The first one was a Dresden Plate block that was hand sewn, hand appliqued and hand quilted and just needed to be finished with a pillow cover and pillow. The other was also a Dresden plate design too, but it was machine pieced and not appliqued to a backing. Once I got it under the iron, I saw why. It was wonky and wouldn't lay flat no matter how hard I tried. I can see why it was never finished! Turns out the seams were sewn using less than 1/4" seams. So I resewed them, ironed it flat and machine appliqued to a backing with fancy machine stitches. I don't know how old the fabric is, but it is new to me. I love finding these charming little treasures.
