While at the quilt show, I got inspired to come home and do some rust dyeing. But then it snowed and I've always wanted to do some snow dyeing so I grabbed the supplies and set aside some time to just do it. Having purchased the supplies some time ago, it wasn't a hard thing to do. The interesting thing about snow dyeing is that you can't control the results. I just folded my fabric different ways and covered it with snow before sprinkling on a very small amount of cloth dye powder.

I decided to try using one dye and chose black as that is the color I plan on using for future art quilts.
By using the black dye I figured I could add ink, or paint, or water color pencil to place some much needed color in some of these pieces.
Of course various thread could be sewn into them to add some interest.
I'll be spending my summer months deciding what to make with these pieces. It should be fun. And I will think of the cold, snowy winter we had while I'm making them into something special.
I think this one is my favorite.
But this is interesting, too.
Pardon me, now, while I go check on the fabric that is outside rusting!
