UPDATE: "Have Bike.....Will Travel" Has Been Accepted...

If you recall about a month ago (refer to challenges in the right hand margin to see original posts) I submitted my quilt to Mary Kerr to be considered for her "Dare to Dance, An Artist's Interpretation of Joy" project. I just received notice that my art quilt has been accepted to be published in her book, included in the Art Exhibit at the Candy Factory in Manassas in May, and will also travel for the next 18 months to help promote her new book.  Thanks to all who helped me achieve this goal, and to Mary, for organizing these events!

My Artist Statement
Our tandem took my husband and I places I never thought possible. From the backroads and trails of Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania and the thoroughfares between the Western Canyons, to the French countryside, I enjoyed every trip as “stoker” on our tandem.  And to those who called out “she isn’t pedaling”… oh, yes, she was!  Until my husband’s stroke, we logged over 20,000 miles on that bike. The road displays the places we traveled and the quilting provides more memories of the time we spent on our tandem…pure joy! I’ve wanted to make a quilt representing this stage of my life, so thank you, Mary Kerr, for creating this challenge!
P.S. Thanks to Bob Diehl for permitting me to use his tandem design for this piece.
